CONSORTIUM BOARD

The Consortium Board (CB) is a strategic decision making project body. It ensures a top level institutional representation and endorsement of the project.  It covers at such different roles : providing strategic orientations of the project ; decision making in the domain of strategic project orientation ; settlement of disputes (proposal of solutions in case of conflict of opinion).

The CB is composed of the following top management representatives of Gender-SMART partners :

EXTERNAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The External Advisory Commitee (EAC) aims both at ensuring the quality and sustainability of the innovative actions to be implemented in partner organisations, and to contribute to the dissemination of Gender-SMART’s methods, good practices and results throughout European policy, academic and science and innovation-related networks.

It is established for the duration of the project and convenes once a year. It involves a diversity of profiles and experiences, with view to work cumulatively in a multidisciplinary spirit. Field expertise has been privileged over general gender expertise or country coverage with regards to the composition of the consortium, so as to provide relevant knowledge and experience to the design of effective actions. Attention has also been paid to gender balance of the committee.

Dr. Carmen GONZALEZ RAMOS

Carmen graduated in Biology at the University of Extremadura. She obtained a PhD in the field of Cell Biology. She began her professional career as assistant to the laboratory leader Nestlé. She onwards joined the Nestlé R&I Center based in Badajoz as project manager in the area of Food Technology. She has also carried out research at other companies with offices located in Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, France and the United States. Since 2001, Carmen joined the Extremadura National Technological Agri-Food Center (CTAEX), where she has held positions as Head of the Food Technology Area and Coordinator of R&I. Since 2011, she assumes the general management of CTAEX
Partner, Managing Director and Senior Consultant YELLOW WINDOW

Dr. Lut MERGAERT

Lut is Belgian, holds a PhD in Management Sciences (2012, Radboud University Nijmegen; dissertation entitled ‘The Reality of Gender Mainstreaming Implementation – the Case of the EU Research Policy’), a MSc. degree in Applied Economics, and obtained a Certificate of Women’s Studies. Lut has over 20 years’ experience managing pan-European studies of which many for the European Commission, is an experienced qualitative social researcher, evaluation specialist (member of the European Evaluation Society) and a gender consultant. She has been the project leader in a significant number of policy support studies, in which position she facilitated numerous focus group discussions, consultations, (online) forums, etc. She was project leader and/or author of several assignments for the European Commission, including “Monitoring progress towards Gender Equality in the Sixth Framework Programme – Science and Society” and “Gender in EUfunded Research – Toolkit and Training” (DG RTD, 2009-2010 and 2011-2012), and for the European Institute for Gender Equality, coordinating studies covering all EU Member States. She is the author of many reports, academic articles and book chapters on the subject of gender equality in research and science. Lut is Management Committee member for Belgium and co-leader of Work Group 2 – Task Force on Gender in Research and Innovation for the COST-funded action GenderSTE (Gender in Science, Technology, Environment). Upon the request of the European Commission, she has been appointed as a Member of the Advisory Board of the EU-funded project ‘Responsible Research and Innovation: Tools and Training’ to represent gender equality expertise on that Board. She is fluent in English, Dutch and French, and has passive knowledge of German.
Head of Department ISAS

Dr. Marcela LINKOVA

Marcela holds a PhD in sociology from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. Her research focuses on sociology of gendered organizations, research careers, governance of research and
research assessment from a gender perspective and the material-discursive practices through which gender equality policies and initiatives are adopted and implemented. She is the chair of ERAC Standing Working Group on Gender in Research and Innovation, and has served on expert and advisory bodies for the European Commission and Czech state administration. She was the Vice-Chair of genderSTE COST Action TN1201. She has coordinated and participated in several FP 6 and FP 7 projects on gender equality in science. In 2015 she was elected as member of the executive board of Research Network 24 Science and Technology of the European Sociological Association. In 2017 she participated in the “Women in STEM” International Visitor Leadership Programme in the USA.
Director Of CIHEAM-Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari

Mr Maurizio RAELI

Maurizio is the Director of CIHEAM Bari since January 2017. He has a Law Degree and a Post-graduate specialization diploma in Labour and Social Security Law at the University of Bari. In the period of 2013 – 2016 he represented the Directorate of CIHEAM Bari at the Governing Board, the Board of Directors and the Meetings of the Scientific and Advisory Board of CIHEAM, as well as at the Ministerial Meetings and numerous National and International Meetings. In the period of 2001 – 2016 he was the Deputy Director of CIHEAM Bari with the following duties and responsibilities: Organization of administrative services; Planning and appraisal of administrative dossiers; Relations with legal advisors, suppliers, social security and insurance institutions, and tax authorities; Preparation of contracts; Relation with the personnel and collaborators; Preparation of various dossiers (GB, CIHEAM, Foreign affairs ministry, national and international organisms); Representative role of the Institute in the absence of the Director; Coordinator of numerous international Master Courses implemented in collaboration with academic and scientific institutions in the Mediterranean Region; Dvelopment and management of the sector “Mediterranean Organic Farming” of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari. He is the author of articles in specialized journals and editor of publications in the field of international cooperation and the agrifood sector and has been the Coordinator of numerous projects of international cooperation funded by the European Union, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies and Regione Puglia.
Head of the Scientific Operations Division ANR

Pr Yves FORT

Yves is Professor of Chemistry at University of Lorraine (Nancy, France). At ANR, he is Head of the Scientific Operations Division and member of the Executive Committee. The Scientific Operations Division of ANR is in charge of the coordination of the various calls of the ANR’s work programme. In this context, Yves manages the five scientific departments of ANR, which are in charge of the implementation of the work programme and the call for proposals. Before joining ANR, he was heading of a multidisciplinary laboratory (chemistry, physics, biology; near 100 persons) from 2008 to 2015.
Director of Research TEAGASC

Pr. Frank O’MARA

Frank is the Director of Research at Teagasc since 2009. He has responsibility for leading Teagasc’s research programme which has an annual budget of over €60 million, with over 700 researchers, support
staff and graduate students. It covers all aspects of agrifood research from soils to consumers. He also contributes to and is a member of various national and EU committees and bodies, e.g. The Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR) and the Governing Board of the EU FACCE (Food Security and Climate Change) Joint Programme Initiative. He is also a member of international scientific advisory boards for AgResearch in New Zealand, SRUC in Scotland and for the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre, and until 2014, he was a member of the international scientific advisory board of MTT (now known as LUKE) in Finland. He was previously Associate Professor of Animal Nutrition at University College Dublin.
Dean of Education, Professor Geo-Information Science, Wageningen University (WUR)

Prof. Dr. Ir. Arnold BREGT

Arnold Bregt has started as Dean of Education in 2017. He is also Professor Geo-Information Science. As dean of education he is responsible for the strategy of the education of Wageningen University and the implementation in education programmes. In the Geoinformation science, his current research interests are spatial data infrastructures, land use modelling and spatial thinking. The last years he was and is strongly involved in a number of projects and activities concerning research and development of the Spatial data infrastructures. He was also one of the initiators and acted as scientific director of the research programme “Space for geo-information”, which was granted a subsidy of 20 million euro in 2003. Under his supervision 25 PhD students have completed their thesis.
Secretary and Registrar CUT

Dr. Costas HOPPAS

Costas is currently the Secretary and Registrar at the Cyprus University of Technology and member of the Rectorate Council of CUT. Costas has served as the Director of Finance and Human Resources Services at CUT from September 2007 to February 2012. Prior to his current position, he has worked in Higher Education for more than twenty-years at the European University Cyprus (ex. Cyprus College) and at St. John’s University, New York, USA, both as academic and administrative staff. Costas holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Management with specialization in Personnel and Strategic Management and an M.B.A. degree in Business Administration and Finance from St. John’s University, USA. He also holds an M.A. degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Cyprus and a Ph.D. degree in Strategic Human Resource Management from the University of Wolverhampton, U.K. He is an active member of the Cyprus Human Resource Management Association (CyHRMA) since 1993. He had served as a member of the Executive Board of the Cyprus Human Resources Association from 1999- 2009 and as a Vice-President of the Association from 2005-2009. He is also a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the British Academy of Management (BAM) and the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).
EXTERNAL ADVISORY COMMITEE

Marcel KRAUS

He is responsible for the gender mainstreaming agenda in the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR), the national Research Funding Organisation for applied research and innovation. As the work package leader in the consortium GEECCO (Horizon 2020), he is dealing with gender equality in the funding agencies in terms of program design, evaluation processes and gender dimension in the research and innovation content. He is also the leader of gender equality policy in TA CR – author of the Guidelines for gender sensitive language and Guidelines for integration of gender dimension into research and innovation content. Marcel is the organizer of annually held Gender equality platform meetings and participant in many national and international events with gender focus. He is a member of several committees evaluating projects on various gender topics. He studied arts at the Conservatory in Prague, pedagogy at the West Bohemian University (CZ, Bachelor) and economics at the University of Leipzig (DE, Master). As a gender practitioner, he took part in many gender related workshops and lectures, especially in the consortium GENDER-NET ERA-NET where he represented TA CR

Stéphane REBOUD

He joined Dell in 2003 and serves since 2015 as Vice President Global Services for EMEA region, member of EMEA Leadership team and Montpellier Site Leader (1,000 staff). Prior he was over 5 years General Manager for France Consumer Small & Medium Business division. Among previous assignments with Dell, he acted as EMEA Sales Operations director and Sales Director for Southern Europe on Small Business. He started his career in the UK as Product Manager with General Cable, alternative telco operator. He then moved to the Netherlands to set-up mobile operator Orange/France Telecom Mobile as Products & Services Director before joining Vivendi Telecom Hungary as Chief Marketing Officer. 48 years old, Stéphane holds both an Engineering degree from Telecom Sud Paris and a Master from ESCP Europe. He was honored reaching 3rd rank of “Sales Director 2011” from business magazine “Action Commercial”. Stéphane is Board member of FACE Hérault (Foundation Action against Exclusion) and Vice-President of Montpellier Business School. He is actively engaged within the community as EMEA sponsor for MARC (Men Advocating Real Change) at Dell to promote Diversity and Inclusion and in Dell for Entrepreneurs initiative.

Dr. Eucharia MEEHAN

She was appointed Registrar and CEO of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies in May 2017. Prior to this she was the inaugural Director of the Irish Research Council (2012-2017) which was formed
as an amalgamation of two former councils. Dr Meehan has more than 20 years of leadership experience across a range of public and private research based organisations, including at the Higher Education Authority Ireland where she was Head of Research and Innovation (policy and investment). In this role she directed the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI) which invested €1.2bn of public and private funds to develop the strategic research infrastructure and capacity which became the bedrock for research in the higher education institutions in Ireland. Before joining the HEA in 2001, Dr Meehan was Head of Programme Management at Elan Biotechnology Research (EBR). In this role she had responsibility for sites and joint ventures in Ireland, Israel and the USA. Dr Meehan holds a PhD in Pharmacology (Neuropharmacology) from NUIG, in addition to a number of postgraduate management, accounting and finance qualifications from TCD and the ACCA.

Christine VERSCHUUR

an anthropologist, PhD in Socio-economics of Development from the University of Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne (1983), is Senior Lecturer at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva. She is in charge of the Gender and Development Programme at the Graduate Institute. She is also the Director of Les Cahiers Genre et Dévelopment, published by L'Harmattan-Paris since 2000. Associated to the faculty since 1996 at the Graduate Institute (previously the Institute of Development Studies), she has contributed to mainstream gender in teaching activities, research and outreach, and in increasing gender equality at the institution. Her research interests are gender and development; gender experts and gender expertise; solidarity and feminist economy; gender, urban social organisations and environment; gender, rural development and peasant organisations; gender and migration.

Anna KOUKKIDES-PROCOPIOU

Anna is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center of European and International Affairs, University of Nicosia and a Researcher with SeeD-Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development, mainly focusing on gender, inclusive security and development (especially in the context of the Cyprus Problem and most recently Liberia). She has in the past held a number of managerial positions in Lanitis Development Ltd (Lanitis Group of Companies). Anna has also served as Executive Director on the Board of DIAS Media, a public company and the largest media house in Cyprus. She was also the Project Manager for two EU-funded pan-European projects, Women Fit4Business and Gender Diversity in Decision-Making Positions, while currently project managing an Ernst Young scholarships programme for unemployed female university graduates, which she has helped initiate. She now serves her second term as President of AIPFE Cyprus- Women of Europe, which she also represents on the Board of the Cyprus Women’s Lobby. She is a member of Business Professional Women-Cyprus, a founding member of the Cyprus Literacy Board and the Friends of the Cyprus Institute, as well as the co-founder and facilitator of three Lean-In Nicosia Circles, affiliated with Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean-In Org, including the first corporate such circle in Cyprus run in association with KPMG. She currently sits on the panel of judges for the Madame Figaro Women Awards, is a member of the Cyprus Advisory Board of the Global Entrepreneurship Network initiated by the US State Department and is a member of the Economy Task Force of the Cyprus Dialogue Forum. Anna was recently awarded the ‘Iconic Women Award for Changing the Word’ by the global summit of the Women Economic Forum.
